Burlington, 16 June 201 5 – Mom’s Night Out is set to have a new theme starting this June when Burlington-based publishing house Tipsy Squirrel Press releases its first anthology called Martinis & Motherhood: Tales of Wonder, Woe & WTF?! The book pairs up short and relatable stories of motherhood with customized martini recipes inspired by the tales themselves.

Shannon Day of Tipsy Squirrel Press explains, “When it comes to motherhood, so often it’s our fellow mom-friends that support us on our journey. We laugh together and cry together, and when we need to be reminded that we are in fact normal, we can count on them. The book is filled with the kinds of tales that we like to share on a Mom’s Night Out (or in). They will make you laugh, cry, and realize that you’re in good company. The martinis are a fun way to celebrate the many toast-worthy moments of motherhood.”

This story collection consists of thirty-seven tales of motherhood, each accompanied by an easy-to-make martini. Co-publisher Tara Wilson says, “We wanted the stories to be as varied as the moms who will read them. Regardless of whether you are in a Wonder, Woe or WTF?! stage of motherhood, you’ll find a tale in there that is perfect for you.”

The custom martini recipes in the book are clearly aimed at women living in the thick of motherhood including such mixes as “The Pelvic Floor,” “The Trench,” and “Motherhood Paradise.” Day suggests, “The best way to enjoy the book is to get a group of friends together, mix up a few of the martinis and enjoy them while reading aloud some of your favourite stories from the book.”

In addition to contributions by Wilson and Day, the book features women writers in Canada, the USA, Europe, and Southeast Asia. The Greater Toronto area is well represented by Kristine Laco and Global TV’s Carolyn Mackenzie, both of Toronto; Louise Gleeson of Oakville; and Clever Carter author Sara Park of Burlington .

The motherhood-themed book launches on Amazon.com on Tuesday, June 16th, and is available to purchase in both print and Kindle versions.
